Cannes 2012 Lineup to Feature Dueling Films Starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart

The 2012 Cannes Film Festival lineup will be featuring films starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.  Pattinson’s “Cosmopolis” based on the Don De Lilo classic and directed by David Cronenberg will be competing with Stewart’s Jack Kerouac adaptation of “On the Road” directed by Walter Salles.   Other American films in competition are Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, the opening night choice, and the début film of Brandon Cronenberg (David Cronenberg’s son) “Antiviral”.  Michael Haneke,  Claude Miller, Lee Daniels, Leo Carax, Abbas Kiarostami and Ken Loach also will be presenting new films.  This year, Italian director Nanni Moretti (The Son’s Room) will lead the Jury for the main competition, while Tim Roth is presiding over the Un Certain Regard Jury.  The 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival runs from 16 May to 27 May 2012.
